. Case Study:  How Would we Prove Our Theories of Ozone Hole Degradation?

If you have completed looking at these critical concepts of the case:

  • That chlorofluorocarbons appeared to ideal materials for refrigerants,
  • That their presence in the stratosphere was a totally expected consequence of their stability,
  • And that Rowland and Molina developed a hypothesis based on theoretical grounds that chlorofluorocarbons in the stratosphere would prove damaging to the important ozone in the stratosphere,

Then try to see yourself as a scientist in 1980 and plan a study to identify if the proposals of Rowland and Molina were correct.
